چکیده

BackgroundDesflurane and sevoflurane are commonly used during inhalational anaesthesia, but few studies have investigated their effects on deep cerebral neuronal activity. In addition, the association between subthalamic nucleus (STN) neurophysiology general anaesthesia induced by volatile anaesthetics not yet identified. This study aimed to identify differences in neurophysiological characteristics of STN comparable minimal alveolar concentration (MAC) desflurane for brain stimulation (DBS) patients with Parkinson's disease.MethodsTwelve similar disease severity received (n=6) or DBS surgery. We obtained spike firing using microelectrode recording at 0.5–0.6 MAC compared rate, power spectral density, coherence.ResultsNeuronal rate was lower (47.4 [26.7] Hz) than (63.9 [36.5] (P<0.001). Sevo?urane entrained greater gamma oscillation (62.9% [0.9%] vs 57.0% [1.5%], respectively; P=0.002). There coherence theta band group (13% 6%, respectively). Anaesthetic choice did differentially influence mapping accuracy clinical outcome electrode implantation.ConclusionsDesflurane produced distinct profiles humans that may be associated analgesic hypnotic actions.

Deep Brain Stimulation of the Subthalamic Nucleus Improves Lexical Switching in Parkinsons Disease Patients

OBJECTIVE Reduced verbal fluency (VF) has been reported in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), especially those treated by Deep Brain Stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus (STN DBS). To delineate the nature of this dysfunction we aimed at identifying the particular VF-related operations modified by STN DBS. METHOD Eleven PD patients performed VF tasks in their STN DBS ON and OFF conditio...

Metabolic correlates of subthalamic nucleus activity in Parkinson's disease.

Overactivity of subthalamic nucleus (STN) neurons is a consistent feature of Parkinson's disease (PD) and is a target of therapy for this disorder. However, the relationship of STN firing rate to regional brain function is not known. We scanned 17 PD patients with (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET to measure resting glucose metabolism before the implantation of STN deep brain stimulation elect...

The Effects of Bilateral Subthalamic Nucleus Stimulation on Cognitive and Neuropsychiatric Functions in Parkinson’s Disease: A Case-Control Study

Introduction: Parkinson’s disease is one of the most disabling diseases which by electrode implantation and stimulation of subthalamic nucleus (STN), much progress has been made in the treatment of drug resistant patient. This new method of neurosurgery may have some neuropsychological side effects on the patients. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of this kind of treatment ...

the analysis of the role of the speech acts theory in translating and dubbing hollywood films
